A new special school,
from the first shovel.
We covered the sod turn for a new special school adjoining Leichhardt State School. The term carries two meanings on a commercial build, and both were happening on the day. The ceremony, where the people behind the project put a shovel in the ground together. And the physical start, where the machines begin clearing and shaping the site.
It matters because it only happens once. The clock on the construction program starts here, and this is the last time anyone sees the site as it was. Get it wrong and there is nothing to go back to.
